About the Class
Weeks 1-4: Overview of Part III What are some of the major concepts presented in Part III of The Urantia Book and what does it say about humanity’s origin, purpose and destiny? This class explores revelatory answers to age-old questions about humanity’s true nature and role in the evolution of the universe. Part III of the Urantia Book takes us on an exciting journey of evolution, starting with the formation of our solar system and the original marine life implantations in Urantia’s warm, primitive ocean through the long ages of slow and often surprising evolutionary developments to the first pair of truly human beings nearly one million years ago. We will discover what sets human beings apart from their evolutionary cousins and confers upon them an extraordinary capacity for divine perfection and an eternal destiny. During the first 4 weeks of class students will explore the basic concepts and themes of Part III:
Part III of The Urantia Book culminates in the revelation of the Supreme Being, the Oversoul of creation. The discovery of the Supreme gives us a profound and richer understanding of how the pieces of the cosmic evolutionary puzzle fit together with respect to our individual and collective origin, purpose and transcendent destiny. Weeks 5-6: The Supreme (1279.4) 117:1.6 The evolving divine nature of the Supreme is becoming a faithful portrayal of the matchless experience of all creatures and of all Creators in the grand universe. In the Supreme, creatorship and creaturehood are at one; they are forever united by that experience which was born of the vicissitudes attendant upon the solution of the manifold problems which beset all finite creation as it pursues the eternal path in quest of perfection and liberation from the fetters of incompleteness. What is the nature of the mysterious Supreme Being? How are human beings connected to the Supreme, and how are our destinies intertwined? This class explores one of the greatest and most meaningful revelations of The Urantia Book: the existence of the Supreme Being, the evolutionary Deity of space and time, the Oversoul of creation. The discovery of the Supreme gives us a fuller understanding of the immense evolutionary forces at work in the Grand Universe. All things and beings on material, mindal and spiritual levels of reality are moving and growing towards perfection. Students who engage in this class will:

She was ordained a Soto Zen Buddhist priest and trained in both the Soto and Rinzai Zen traditions for many years. Since discovering The Urantia Book in 1984 she has devoted herself to its in-depth study and sharing the fifth epochal revelation with others. Buck Weimer (Weeks 5-6) After three years in the paratroopers, a motorcycle trip through Central America, and two transatlantic sailboat crossings, Buck Weimer finally met Arlene, his future wife, in the Caribbean on St. Thomas. They married five years later, and embarked on two years of travel around the world, at the end of which they were introduced to The Urantia Book in 1972. Buck and Arlene both finished their first reading of The Urantia Book on a mountain top in Costa Rica, which inspired them to return to their home culture in the U.S. where they began their careers and raised a family of three sons to adulthood in Pueblo, Colorado. They started the first Urantia Book study group in Pueblo in 1975 and have continued to host a weekly study group in their home ever since. Buck and Arlene have been actively involved in Urantian organizations for many years. They are both members of the Urantia Book Fellowship General Council, and Buck has been chairman of the International Fellowship Committee (IFC) for seven years. In this capacity he has traveled to several countries in Asia, Africa and South America to promote The Urantia Book and give support to local study groups. He and Arlene have been married for 47 years (as of 2017). |
